Will this work in my area or country?
When I change service package, add or delete units, how's the account subscription expiration recalculated?
Service credit (or subscription days) are shared among all units in your account. When you change from one package to another in "Account Settings", or add/delete units from "Manage Units" page, the subscription expiration date will be recalculated based on the remaining credit, new package price and the total number of units in the account.
For example, you have 1 unit under your account with 2 months service subscription, when you add a second unit to the account, the 2 months service credit will be distributed to 2 units and the subscription will be automatically adjusted to 1 month. Your total service credit amount will be unaltered before and after adding/removing units in your account. In this case, it was 2 months service for 1 unit, now it's 1 month service for 2 units.
To change your package online anytime: after login, click "Account", then click "Account Settings" and change package there. To add/delete unit, go to "Manage Units" page.
I got false geofence alert emails/SMS.
Due to the fluctuation of the GPS signal, you should not set your fence radius too small. We recommend setting greater than 500 feet. Less than that will trigger lots of false alarms.
With 500 feet fence, you could still get 1 or 2 false alarms if there are any factors that cause more GPS drifting in your area (high buildings, thick clouds, storms...). In such cases, you should increase the fence radius.
Can I track multiple units in my account? What is master account?
Multiple Units on One Map
Yes you can add multiple units to your account, and they'll show up on one tracking map.
To add another unit, just specify your AccuTracking username when activating the new unit online.
Master Account
Master account allows you to link multiple AccuTracking accounts to one "master" account, and pay for all accounts with up to 20% volume discount. Master account can access its sub-accounts without their passwords. To register or login to master account, click here.
Master Account Volume Discount Table:
# of Units | Discount |
10 or more | 5% |
100 or more | 10% |
500 or more | 15% |
1000 or more | 20% |
How does the billing work? What is subscription expiration date?
AccuTracking is a pay-as-you-go service - there's no contract or extra fee - you just prepay for another month, quarter or year. When your account subscription ends, it's suspended and you can simply recharge it to resume service (tracking may take a few hours to resume due to the SIM card reprovision process).
You can also renew at any time by clicking the little "gear" icon at the bottom of the map, then click "Account" > "Billing" > "View, Recharge Account".
You can choose to renew for 1 month, or choose to renew 1 quarter or 1 year and get up to 16% off the regular monthly price.
Adding or deleting units under "Manage Units" page will also have the subscription expiration date re-calculated based on the remaining credit and the number of units.
Account can be recharged online with major credit cards.
My tracking stopped working. Location is not updating online any more.
First check your account alert history for any "unplug" alert by clicking the little "bell" icon on the bottom of the map. If you see unplug alert, the tracker might have been loose from the OBD port. You'll need to get to the vehicle and replug it firmly.
Then check the LED lights on the tracker. It could be hard to see the lights in bright day light but at night it's much easier to spot. You can also check the light immediately after unplugging it - the internal battery lasts only for a short moment.
If you don't see any LED, try the tracker on a different vehicle - it could be either the OBD port PIN contact issue or the vehicle's OBD fuse is blown.
Please contact us for any other issues.
How much does it cost?
How accurate is it?
The average GPS accuracy for GPS trackers is about 50 feet >90% of time. It usually pinpoints the location within 10~200 feet. In rare cases (<5% of time) it can go up to 500 feet.
The main cause of big GPS drifting is the GPS signal "multi-path" issue caused by the reflection of the surrounding objects like buildings, trees, other ground structures, or bad weather (clouds). If you see frequent *big* GPS jumps, it could also be hardware related: the battery level surge, dying battery, or internal GPS chipset issue.
In very rare cases, you may see "huge flying" showing your location is hundreds of miles away or in the middle of ocean. This indicates either a severe reflection of the GPS signal by the buildings/skyscrapers, heavy clouds, or the sudden power surge (check if the battery is dying). And lastly, the GPS hardware could be failing.
Package 1, 2, 3, 4: what's the difference?
The major difference is the location update rate and reports:
package 1 updates every 2 minutes, package 2 updates every minute, package 3 updates every 30 seconds,
package 4 updates every 15 seconds. Package 1 has no reports while package 2 has some reports.
Package 3 & package 4 come with all reports. Here's the comparison chart:
http://www.accutracking.com/features.php
And here's the pricing info: http://www.accutracking.com/pricing.php
You can change packages at any time and the subscription date would automatically adjust
according to packages, so it's really flexible:

How does speeding alert work? How to set the speed limit?
You can set a speed limit for each unit so when it moves faster that that, you receive an alert via email or SMS message.
To set the speed limit, click "Manage Units", on the list of units, click "Speed Limit" to set the limit.
Note: The alert preferences need to be set to at least one of the two options "Email" or "SMS" on account setting page: "Account" > "General" > "Account Settings".
What is inactivity/offline alert? Can I get an email or SMS alert when tracking stops updating?
You can preset a time length in your account so when the unit stops updating for this preset time length, you receive an email or SMS alert (depending on your alert preference setting). For example, you can get an alert when the unit has not updated in the past 10 minutes.
To set the inactivity/offline alert for a unit, just login to your AccuTracking account, then click "Account" > "Account Settings", then set "Alert if the unit is inactive/offline for X minutes".
Note: The alert preferences need to be set to at least one of the two options "Email" or "SMS" on account setting page: "Account" > "General" > "Account Settings".
What is tracking report? How accurate is it?
If you are subscribed to Package 2 or up, there is a "Report" feature. You can get the following reports within a specified time range:
- Tracking Summary Report. This will show the total mileage, total transit time, total stop time, number of stops, average transit time, average stop time, and max speed for each unit.
- Travel Report. This gives the detailed travel and stop report including begin time, end time, duration, coordinates, max speed, and mileage.
- Travel Report with Address (Package 3 only). This report is the same as the Travel Report above except for showing addresses instead of coordinates.
- Geofence Report (Package 3 only) - shows begin time, end time, duration, max speed, and mileage when inside and out of fences.
- State Mileage Report (US only. Package 3 only) - shows mileage inside each state, first time in the state, last time in the state. Mileages are grouped by each state and by each unit. Useful for fuel tax purpose.
The accuracy of the report can be affected by:
1. The tracking update interval. The shorter the update interval is, the more accurate the report is.
2. The GPS and network quality. For poor GPS signal, the unit may not be able to acquire the position all the time and miss data. For poor network coverage, the unit may not able to send out the data all the time.
What is geofence?
Geofence is a virtual fence (a circle around certain location) that you can preset online. When the unit enters/leaves the fence, you receive an alert via email or phone SMS message. You can also set alerts for "inside fence for X minutes".
For example, you set a geofence named "School" as a 3000 feet circle from the center of the school. When your child carrying the unit leaves this circle, you receive an Email or SMS saying "Joe leaves school at 5:30PM".
Don't set the fence radius less than 500 feet because with small fences the GPS signal fluctuation may trigger false alarms.
Time Based Geofence
Geofence can be setup as being active during a certain time range only. For example, a "School" fence can be active between 7am and 4pm only. To setup time based fences, go to your "Account" page, then click "Manage Fences" link and enter time range in the "Time range" field.
Can I receive tracking alerts on my cell phone? How?
Yes. To receive tracking alerts (geofence alert, speed alert, battery alert, inactivity alert, inside fence duration alert), just login to your AccuTracking account, then go to "Account" > "General" > "Account Settings":
1) Set "Alert Preferences" to "SMS", and
2) Enter the correct "SMS Email" for your phone.
What's SMS Email?
To send SMS geofence alerts to your cell phone, AccuTracking uses Email to SMS Gateway provided by most cell phone providers. The SMS Email is your phone's email address, which is just like a normal email address, but any message sent to it will be relayed to your cell phone. The table below lists some popular cell phone companies' SMS email addresses. For other providers or countries, please check with your provider. Or search it on Google. (A reference page)
How can I cancel, remove, delete, close my AccuTracking username/account?
Our service is pay-as-you-go based, which means you won't get automatically charged/billed when your account credit is used up. So keeping the account open does not cost anything after the subscription is over. You can just recharge your account when you come back later and decide to use the service again.
In case you do want to cancel, remove, delete, close your account, please login to your account, then click "Account (open in new window)" button (the button with a "gear" icon) at the bottom of the map, then "Close my account" link. It'll then ask for account password before permanently removing your account from our system.
How can I track my units in Google Earth in real time?
AccuTracking Network Link enables you to track in Google Earth in real time (auto refresh the latest positions). For details, please login to AccuTracking website (click "DEMO" and login as demo if you don't already have an account), click "Manage Units", then click the unit's name and choose "Show Sticker" from the popup menu. The Google Earth Network Links are in section 5 of the page.
One is for the latest positions only; the other is for history data.
This feature is available in Package 2 and up only.
How can I archive, download, or delete the history tracking data?
Tracking data are kept on the system for 1 month before being purged automatically. You cannot delete data manually.
To download the GPS history data and save on your PC for permanent storage, go to your "Account" page, then click "Download GPS History Data". There are 2 formats: one is CSV format, which can be opened in Microsoft Excel; the other is KML format for Google Earth.
If I don't recharge my account, will it be closed?
When an account is left expired, the SIM card is then deactivated and its data plan is shut off and removed. Once an expired account is recharged, it could take up to a few hours for the SIM to get reactivated and reprovisioned by the wireless carrier.
The tracker goes to sleep mode and only wakes up every a few hours when the vehicle is off so you won't see the update right away if the vehicle is off. It usually comes back online shortly after the vehicle starts moving.
Do you support GPS tracker xyz and how do I configure it to work with AccuTracking website?
You'll need a SIM card with data plan for the tracker. We recommend US Mobile sim card (using T-Mobile network) with their pay-as-you-go plan ($2 text + $2 data + $2 service charge, or a Speedtalk SIM card (available on Amazon).
To use them with AccuTracking website:
1. Follow your device's user manual, configure your GPS tracker to use the IP and port listed in the table below. Most devices requires a password to change the configuration, which may be obtained from the manufacturer/vendor.
