Do you support GPS tracker xyz and how do I configure it to work with AccuTracking website?

$

0
Yes we support some GPS trackers as listed below and are adding more trackers. Please contact us to see if your tracker can be added.

You'll need a SIM card with data plan for these trackers. We recommend:
1. H2O Wireless Sim Cards (using AT&T network) with Pay as You Go Plan, which costs 10 cents/MB data.
2. PTel Sim Cards (using T-Mobile network) which is $4.99/each (either a Mini-SIM or a Combi-SIM is fine), and their Real Paygo Plan which costs 10 cents/MB data.

To use them with AccuTracking website:

1. Login to AccuTracking website and click "Manage Units"; (Free signup)
2. Click "Add a Unit" and choose "GPS Tracker" from the "Unit type" dropdown list. Fill other fields in the form and click "Generate Tracker ID" button. For the IMEI field, if your device (for example Meiligao tracker) requires you to use partial IMEI as ID, enter the same partial IMEI here (Some TK102 trackers use the last 11 digits of the IMEI only).
3. Follow your device's user manual, configure your GPS tracker to use the following IP and port:

4. IMPORTANT: configure the device to enable auto track by intervals (refer to your tracker's manual for how to do that). For most devices, you won't see the location online until this is done.
5. Take the tracker outside with a good view of the sky and your location should be online momentarily.
6. If you cannot see the location online, please feel free to email our support with the following info, and we're happy to help!
  • Your tracker's model number
  • IMEI number
  • The port you used
A lot of times your tracker might be labeled as one model but is actually using another model's protocol due to the clones.

Supported Carriers:

It doesn't matter which carrier carries the above phones. The network (GSM, iDEN, CDMA...) doesn't matter either as long as they can provide the Internet data plan (GPRS, EDGE, EV-DO, UMTS, or HSPA...) for the phone. You'll need to get the data plan from your carrier for AccuTracking to transmit data over the Internet.

Supported Countries:

If any of the above supported phones is carried by the phone company in your country and they provide data plan for the phone, AccuTracking should work. We have users from outside US: Canada, Mexico, Israel, Singapore, UK etc.

OK my device is supported! Now what?!

Follow the installation guide to install the AccuTracking app and start tracking. The first month tracking service is FREE.

How accurate is it?

$

The average GPS accuracy for cell phones and GPS tracker is about 50 feet >90% of time. It usually pinpoints the location within 10~200 feet. In rare cases (<5% of time) it can go up to 500 feet.

The main cause of big GPS drifting is the GPS signal "multi-path" issue caused by the reflection of the surrounding objects like buildings, trees, other ground structures, or bad weather (clouds). If you see frequent *big* GPS jumps, it could also be hardware related: the battery level surge, dying battery, or internal GPS chipset issue.

In very rare cases, you may see "huge flying" showing your location is hundreds of miles away or in the middle of ocean. This indicates either a severe reflection of the GPS signal by the buildings/skyscrapers, heavy clouds, or the sudden power surge (check if the battery is dying). And lastly, the GPS hardware could be failing. If the phone/tracker is installed in vehicle, please make sure it's not overheated by the engine (use isolation, or keep it away from the engine).

Login to your account, click "Account" > "General" > "Manage Sub-Account", where you can create "view-only" accounts with password. Give this sub-account and password to your friend, and they will be able to view your locations without viewing/modifying you account settings.

You can also restrict which unit(s) the subaccount can view.

Do you have any API that I can programmingly download tracking data to my application?

$

We provide two API access models:

1. Push API:

AccuTracking Data Push allows you to configure an external URL to which AccuTracking posts (via HTTP/HTTPS) GPS data in XML/JSON in realtime. For details, please login to AccuTracking website (click "DEMO" and login as demo if you don't already have an account), click "Account", then click "Data Push Setting".

2. REST API:

Your application can periodically pull our server for new data in XML/JSON format. For details, please login to AccuTracking website, click "Accounts" button, then click "API & web integration". The REST API is on the bottom of the page.

I want to embed my live GPS location info into my own web site.

Location sticker is a dynamic image displaying your latest GPS position information, which can be embedded in your website or online forum/Email signatures.

Adding a location sticker to your web page is easy. Login to your AccuTracking account (click "DEMO" and login as demo if you don't already have an account), then go to 'Manage Units' page and click 'Show Sticker' column for the unit. The HTML code will be generated for you to embed into your own web site or online signatures. Follow the instructions of the sticker page.

How does the billing work? What is subscription expiration date?

$
0
0

The cost consists of 2 parts:

1) AccuTracking service subscription fee you pay to AccuTracking, and
2) Your phone's data plan which you pay to your phone company. For Boost Mobile prepaid phones, it's deducted from your prepaid credits; For other phones, it's on the phone's monthly bills.

AccuTracking is a pay-as-you-go service: when your account credit reaches zero (subscription expired), you will be redirected to the payment page to recharge your account. During this time your phone is still being tracked and there's no tracking data loss, but you'll not be able to view the online tracking data till it's recharged.

The first week of AccuTracking service is free. No credit card is asked. After that you can choose whether to renew the service or not.

You can get to the payment page by logging into your AccuTracking account, then click "Account" > "Billing" > "View, Recharge Account".

You can choose to renew for 1 month, or choose to renew 1 quarter or 1 year and get up to 16% off the regular monthly price.

After the account is renewed, the account subscription expiration date is re-calculated from the payment date based on the number of phones in account. You will be able to login and view the online tracking data.

Adding or deleting units under "Manage Units" page will also have the subscription expiration date re-calculated based on the remaining credit and the number of units.

Account can be recharged online with major credit cards.

  • The port you used
Your tracker might be labeled as one model but is actually using another model's protocol.

Some example configuration text messages:

VT300:
  1. On AccuTracking website in your account, you should only enter the last 14 digits of the IMEI when adding your device
  2. W000000,010,12345678901234
12345678901234 is the last 14 digits of the IMEI

Do you support GPS tracker xyz and how do I configure it to work with AccuTracking website?

$

0
Yes we support GPS trackers as listed below and are adding more trackers. Please contact us to see if your tracker can be added.

You'll need a SIM card with data plan for these trackers. We recommend US Mobile sim cards (using T-Mobile network) with their pay-as-you-go plan ($2 text + $2 data + $2 service charge).

Multiple Units on One Map

Yes you can add multiple phones to your account, and they'll show up on one tracking map.

To add another phone, just login to your AccuTracking account, then click "Manage Units", then click "Generate Tracker ID", then enter the newly generated ID to the AccuTracking software on the phone.

If you would like to buy a new starter kit from us and add it to your existing AccuTracking account, just specify your AccuTracking username when checking out at our online store.

Master Account

Master account allows you to link multiple AccuTracking accounts to one "master" account, and pay for all accounts with up to 20% volume discount. Master account can access its sub-accounts without their passwords. To register or login to master account, click here.

I am not getting the geofence alerts, or not getting them on time.

$

0

There might be several reasons for not receiving geofence alerts or getting them late:

1) The most common reason is that the SMS Email address you specified in "Account Settings" for receiving the SMS alerts is incorrect so the alerts were not able to be delivered to your phone. Login to your AccuTracking account, click "Alerts", if you can see the alerts history there but didn't receive any on your phone, the SMS Email in your account setting is likely wrong. SMS Email address looks like 4151234567@mycingular.com. Common mistakes includes using a non 10 digit phone number in front of the @, or other typo. To test: try to send a short email to the SMS email address from your regular email address (Yahoo, Gmail) and see if you receive the message on the phone.

2) The fence needs to be "enabled". Make sure the "enabled" checkbox is checked on fence page: "Account" > "Useful Shortcuts" > "Manage Fences".

3) The alert preferences need to be set to at least one of the two options "Email" or "SMS" on account setting page:  "Account" > "General" > "Account Settings".

4) The fences can only be calculated when new GPS data is reported by the tracker. So if you have the "sending interval" too long or the tracker is not reporting because of bad GPS signal or poor network coverage, the server may not get the new GPS data.

5) The cached GPS positions and network positions are ignored when calculating the fence alerts.

6) The delay of the Email or SMS system.

Do you have any API that I can programmingly download tracking data to my application?

$

0

Please keep in mind we might impose a pull frequency limit based on server load.

How do I view the history data? How long is the history data stored?

To view the history tracking data on the map, from the "Tracking" page, click the unit icon on the map and select "View history data", or click the unit's name in the table below the map. You can then change the time range on the history data page.

The history data is stored for 1 month then gets deleted from the system automatically. To backup your data, see here.
